Synopsis
Iran’s oldest Tanbūr (Lute) player died at the age of 120 in a Kurdish village. Ghadamyar was the master of a spiritual faith called ‘Yarsan’. The followers of Yarsan consider the Tanbūr as an instrument for meditation and prayer.
An Iranian-Canadian filmmaker travels to Iran in search of the relationship between this undiscovered faith and the art of Tanbur. After meeting with Salman, one of ghadamyar’s seven grandchildren who himself is a master of Tanbur, he finds an opportunity to travel to ghadamyar’s birthplace and memorial shrine. This journey turns into a quest for the Tanbur itself, as a mysterious divine lute which appears in the historical monuments of ancient Mesopotamia and the Middle East.
The film shows the Kurdish-Iranian tribe of “Yarsan” who play the Tanbur in prayer as a means to maintain their identity and aspire to spiritual beauty. The Tanbur helps the Yarsan to navigate their own inner world in search of a beauty that they can only expressed through music.

سید قدمیار کهن سال ترین تنبور نواز ایران در سن 120 سالگی در روستایی کوچک در غرب ایران در گذشت. او که مرشدی معنوی متعلق به یکی از آیین های عرفانی کهن ایران (یارسان) است ، همسرش را در چهل سالگی و بعدها تنها پسرش را در میانسالی از دست داد و دیگر هیچگاه تن به ازدواج نداد و با عشق به موسیقی و آرامشی همیشگی زندگی کرد.
با یافتن سلمان یکی از هفت نوه تنبورنواز قدمیار سفری به زادگاه و آرامگاه او کردیم تا به راز طول عمر وشادی همیشگی اش پی ببریم.
اما این جستجو کلیدی شد تا با پیروان آیینی کهن که تنبور را مقدس میدانند و همگی از کودک و پیر تنبور مینوازند آشنا شویم.
سفری در پی کشف راز و رمز تنبور ، ساز همیشه مسافری که نقش اندامش بر سنگهای شش هزار سال پیش درمکان های تاریخی شرق دیده شده است.
