The Glass Agency

One of the most outspoken and controversial political films ever made in Iran, The Glass Agency depicts the suffering of Iran-Iraq war veterans. Abbas comes to Tehran to seek medical treatment for a war injury. Kazem wants to help Abbas as the doctor recommends that he should go abroad for the operation. However, it is almost New Year’s Eve, and arranging a flight becomes difficult, culminating in a tense, dramatic stand-off.

Filmmaker bio: Ebrahim Hatamikia (born September 23, 1961, Tehran)

Ebrahim Hatamikia studied scriptwriting and began his career with writing screenplays for short films about the eight-year Iraq-Iran war in 1980.

He directed his first feature film ‘Identity’ in 1986. He established himself as a director who addresses issues pertaining to the Iraq-Iran war and its aftermath with films such as ‘The Scout’ (1988), ‘From Karkheh to Rhine’ (1992) and ‘The Glass Agency’ (1997).

Hatamikia does not create fake and unrealistic heroes in his films; rather his characters are based on real people. He has made a number of movies, including ‘Mohajer (Immigrant)’ (1989), ‘Green Ashes’ (1993), ‘Scent of Joseph’s Shirt’ (1995), ‘Minou Tower’ (1995), ‘Red Ribbon’ (1998), ‘Dead Wave’ (2000), ‘Low Heights’ (2001), ‘The Purple’ (2004), ‘In the Name of Father’ (2005), ‘Invitation’ (2008), ‘Che (Chamran)’ (2012), and ‘Bodyguard’ (2015).
