The Justice88 campaign is committed to pursuing accountability for the crimes against humanity committed by the Iranian government in the summer of 1988. In addition, we believe that the culture of impunity that gave rise to the mass execution of political prisoners in 1988 is the same that leads to the imprisonment of thousands of activists in Iran today. Therefore, we believe that our task is to shed light on the crimes of past while simultaneously working to prevent similar human rights violations in the future.
The Justice88 campaign is comprised of people from all walks of life with diverse political views. In the summer of 2013, a group of activists associated with our Campaign were successful in convincing the Parliament of Canada to adopt an internationally-unprecedented unanimous motion recognizing the 1988 massacre as constituting crimes against humanity under international law. The motion also recognized September 1st as a day of solidarity with Iranian political prisoners. We intend to continue our quest for justice.
