Khashayar Mohammadi is an Iranian-born, Toronto-based writer and translator whose first chapbook “Moe’s Skin” was published by ZED Press in 2018. He is currently working on a new collection of Poetry along with a translation anthology of contemporary female Persian poets.
Sheila Tucker was born in England. At age nineteen, she began traveling and working in Europe and the Middle East. She found her way to Canada in 1985, and is now married to film maker/professor David Tucker. They live in Oakville, just west of Toronto.
Sheila was an editor and graphic designer in the publishing wing of an international accounting firm for 18 years. In 2016, after a serious illness and 4 surgeries, she took early retirement (she is now completely well and happy).
Sheila now has more time to write poetry, essays and short stories, and has just completed a memoir with themes of social issues. She is hoping to publish that in the next year. She has almost finished a collection of poetry and is halfway through a collection of short stories.
Sheila is the founder of Poetry&Prose, a monthly open-mic and feature-speaker event in downtown Oakville. If you’d like to be on the mailing list for those events, contact Sheila at facebook.com/OakvilleSheilaTucker Sheila reads at local events, and has won contests and had her work published in anthologies, newspapers and e-zines. She has, just this Fall, had poems and artwork published in the Artis magazine which can be found at Chapters.
When not writing, Sheila loves to read. And when not reading, she goes to the gym or can be found gardening.
Shab-e She’r strongly supports diversity, inclusion and courage in our line-up of features as well as our open mic participants. We have been doing that since our inception (Nov. 2012) without compromising freedom of expression.
Tranzac Club is an accessible venue with no stairs (aside from the stage) and they have two accessible gender neutral washrooms.
