Wings of Wonder – Book Launch

“Queen Gallery is proud to invite you to Robert McAlpine’s book launch celebration on Saturday, February 8, 2019, 5 – 7 pm. Wings of Wonder, by Robert McAlpine was recently translated into Farsi by Negar M. Khorasani. This year-long venture in translating Robert’s magical poetry has now resulted in a unique collaboration that highlights the beauty of Roberts poetry from a fresh perspective.

Robert McAlpine will be at the gallery to talk about his book, Wings of Wonder, his experience as a poet, and the journey into translating these poems into Farsi. Following the talk by Robert, a few of his poems will be read.  Ms Zhaleh Sadeghian, one of Iran’s top TV and Radio speakers and presenters, will be reading the poems in Farsi.

I have tasted of divinity
Have felt its stirring grasp.
How could I ever not remember
Its overwhelming feeling
A question I now simply ask?
Iraq is screaming in the distance
Upon the front page leaves its track
But divinity, alluring me
Fills me with its sweetness
Its stillness holds my upset back.
