Kayhan Kalhor & Alireza Ghorbani

One of Iran’s most beloved artists and the preeminent ambassador of Persian music, Kayhan Kalhor is a soulful master of the kamancheh, the spiked fiddle. Known for stirring improvisations, and ambitious collaborations, Kayhan has invited Alireza Ghorbani to perform in the ancient and rarely heard ‘Saz va Avaz’ tradition, whereby the instrumentalist is accompanied by a vocalist that improvises songs with lyrics from ancient poetry. They will be joined on tombak (percussion) by Behrouz Jamali.
