- Overview
The debut of a group formed specifically for this concert sees three of Toronto’s finest pooling their musical forces together: Mahmood Schricker (electric setar), Demetrios Petsalakis (oud), Naghmeh Farahmand (tombak and percussion) .
Nima Dehghani joins them for a night of visuals inspired by the traditional Persian music to create a different interpretation of an ancient tradition. This is a continuation of the previous tour El Muerte that explored the concept of death; on this tour, however, they play around the notion of birth or existence.
MAKS starts the evening with a very unique ambient music to set the mood for Persian meditative sounds of Mahmood Schricker’s setar and at the end Kami of Klubs closes the evening with some groovy dance music.
MAKS:

With an early exposure to keyboard playing, he has developed an affinity towards many genres of music – largely focusing on contemporary electronic art music and various electronic sub genres in the vain of techno and the more ambient. Currently an undergraduate in classical composition at the University of Toronto, Maks aims to extract the finest aspects of these two fundamentally opposing cultures and artistic practices in order to best inform his own musical process and creative output.
