In honour of the 150th birthday of Canada and the celebration of the Persian New Year, Nowruz, Tirgan has put together a 3 day festival called “Nowruzgan” where Canada 150 meets Nowruz.
This festival will focus on lots of activities for kids including workshops, group games, and many other art related activities as well as music, dance, theatre, film, and native stories for adults and families.
Programs include: “Feathers of Fire”, a magnificent shadow play that tells a story of the Book of Kings (Shahnameh) directed by Hamid Rahmanian ; 7 Princesses (Haft Peykar), a Persian literary classic written in 1197 by Nezami Ganjavi, directed by Shahrokh Moshkin Ghalam; and many other events that are free to public such as film screenings for youth and families; music performances from local and foreign artists; dance performances; kids’ activities and workshops.
The festival attractions will be rounded out by several booths in market section that present Iranian/Canadian arts and crafts, artisan cuisine and a variety of culinary delights.
