Cyrus International Film Festival (Formerly CineIran) 2019 - November 28, 2019

Since its inception in 2015, the Iranian Film Festival in Toronto has brought distinguished collections of Iranian films to the heart of Canada through CineIran. This year, renamed to “Cyrus International Film Festival” (CIFF), it has returned with an even more powerful collection of brilliant movies. The attendance of the legendary Iranian actor “Behrouz Vossoughi”, makes this year even more special.

Like previous years, the festival will be held in two different venues – the TIFF Bell Lightbox and the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO), from 22nd till 29th of November 2019. CIFF showcases Twenty-Two feature films (10 in the Competition Section), four honorary guests, accompanied Q&A sessions, and panel discussions.

The festival’s rich selection of films explores many themes and crosses cinematic genres to elevate and connect with the contemporary aesthetic sensibility of Iranian and Canadian audiences. Screening of Gavaznha (The Deer), one of the renowned films of Behrouz Vossoughi and a biography film about his life, will commence the festival and the selected quality films. Tunisian film “Arab Blues” – with Golshifteh Farahani in the lead role, Arsalan Barahani’s local production “Actors of God”, and a documentary by Yaser Talebi – “Beloved”, represent just a few of the superb screenings at this year’s festival.
The objective of the Iranian Film Festival’s “organizing art committee” and volunteers is to provide the finest atmosphere and cinematic experience for the sophisticated Toronto audience. With the attendance of Behrouz Vossoughi, this year is made more extraordinary as the Toronto audience will get to enjoy the best of Iranian cinema, in presence of one of Iran’s legendary cinematic icons.
