- Overview
Join us for opening night of Pegah Peivandi’s Solo Exhibition, “Hues That Speak for Us” that explores self discovery and community healing
This exhibition explores the artist’s recollection of memories post trauma, their family’s history as Iranian immigrants in the diaspora, and intimate conversations with loved ones as an investigative journey of self discovery and community healing.
Realizing their synesthesia during the span of their artistic practice, Pegah taps into their intuition to create unique and parallel pieces that speak to each other, to themselves, and to the viewer through the use of blending color without doubting their palettes and decisions.
“Growing up, I was immersed in a vibrant Iranian community, where familial bonds extended to friends and neighbors, creating a support network that influenced both my sense of belonging and my artistic perspective. Surrounded by Iranian art from a young age, I felt a strong connection to my heritage, which subtly influenced my designs through the incorporation of Persian oriental motifs, Islamic mosaic patterns and miniature art. Drawing from and inspired by childhood memories and ecological intricacies, I infuse my artwork with celestial qualities, seeing plants as reflections of human experiences.
Through bold colors, surreal compositions and grainy airbrushing, I aim to transport viewers to a realm where the familiar meets the unknown, inviting them to explore their own memories and emotions whilst creating a visual language that fosters wonder and connection.
As my practice develops from digital works to larger-scale exhibition style pieces and public art, the new sense of scale and spatial expression allows me to explore the deeper connections between color, texture and body. Tangible, realized expressions that provoke a sense of otherworldliness and dimensionality amidst the everyday.”
