CYRUS THE GREAT – PERSIAN NEW YEAR 2024
Persian New Year, known as Nowruz, is a significant holiday celebrated by more than 300 million people worldwide. It has been celebrated for over 3,000 years in the Balkans, the Black Sea Basin, the Caucasus, Central Asia, the Middle East, and other regions. It is a universal celebration of new beginnings, wishing prosperity and welcoming the future while shedding away the past. The United Nations recognizes March 21 as International Nowruz Day.
Nowruz marks the beginning of the New Year in the Persian calendar and symbolizes the renewal of nature in spring. The observance of Nowruz involves several rich traditions. Also included in the celebrations are family gatherings, feasts, and visits to relatives, each aspect representing unity, prosperity, and the love of family.
Persian New Year will showcase Persian culture through music, dance, art, and food. Persian New Year coincides with the vernal equinox, which often falls around March 20th. This alignment of a cultural celebration with the arrival of spring is a testament to the unity of nature, culture, and community.
