- Profile
“I have a bachelor’s degree in biology and was a high school teacher prior to moving to Canada 16 years ago. After earning my diploma in early childhood education, I worked with elementary and preschool children for over six years.
I have two sons, aged 13 and six, and have been very active in the public school system as a parent volunteer, school council member, and school council chair at E.J. Sand Public School. I’m also actively involved as volunteer for ILFO (Institute of Leadership for Women in Ontario).
If elected, I will be an accessible trustee and will endeavour to meet the diverse needs of the students in our community. I will advocate for education issues and work together with volunteers to ensure our students are safe, in a healthy and inclusive school environment. As it is your right to be informed, I will openly share information and keep you updated with any changes as they occur.
Youth mental health is a big concern these days, and it requires parental, educational and community engagement. I will bring ongoing support to our schools, offering youth recovery options and help to our educators so they can meet our children “where they are”— physically, psychologically and culturally. I will provide workshops and discussion sessions that focus on how we can help develop our children’s self-confidence, resilience and a sense of belonging.
I’m passionate about our children, their education and well-being and their future. I don’t take this position lightly and will work tirelessly to ensure every child receives the attention they need in order to learn, thrive and succeed in our public school system.”
