Baarbad Music

“Baarbad* was founded by Mehdi Rezania and Toloe Roushenas in 2004. Our goal is producing a unique and artistic sound based on classical music of west and east.

Founded by Mehdi Rezania (current artistic director) and Toloe Roushenas, Baarbad remains one of the most prolific Iranian-Canadian band based in Toronto.

Dynamic, innovative and vibrant, Baarbad has collaborated with over 100 musicians, poets and artists including Ostad Alijanpour, Ostad Keivan Saket, Ostad Hossein Behroozinia, Salar Aghili, Sinfonia Toronto, Windermere String Quartet and many other musicians and artists.

The organization focuses on the presentation of new concert music, and has presented many of musical events across Canada.

* Baarbad is the name of legendary Persian musician in the court of Khosrow Parviz (Sasanid period) who is known for invention of the instrument ‘Barbat’ (mother of Arabic ud and European lute)”
